can we just forget
all the things we have to do tomorrow
for a moment just step away
and let them dissolve like the sun
can you just take my hand
let the waves be our audience
the wind can pull at our hair
but we won’t be blown away
can we just softly kiss
face to face immersing
merging into one silhouette
against an orange sky

I Already Know

torn is too small a word
for the way I separate
mind warring over you
sides clearly drawn
you think you’re so clever
hiding secrets
behind teeth that show
too much through your smile
I’ve known of her
for a long time now
and my tears have fed
the ache of my soul
if I leave
I know bits of me
will always stay tucked away
in the folds of your hands
but the walls
are pressing in
too close to breathe
and the sky keeps getting darker
and I’m afraid I won’t forgive you
if I don’t leave now
and just keep holding out
that you’ll learn to love me
you’ll never love me
not in the way that I need
not in a way that I can see
or feel or know is real
and so I sit here stoically
wishing you’d stop smiling
and wanting just to tell you
that I already know

This was written as the female perspective to a lovely work by Nitin called If You Only Knew. He is an amazing writer and I encourage you to check out his blog.

Your Reason

I wish I could be your reason
reason enough to stay
the lifeline that keeps you here
and never far away

I wish I could be your passion
instead of your anger’s fire
trade you kisses for frowns
and quench that dark desire

I wish I could be your lover
but no matter what I do
you’ll keep me at arms length
never letting me close to you

I want to love you

I want to love you
I want to feel the passion of your words
pressed against my lips
I want to see your eyes
light as they slide over me
I want to taste the fire
of your promises
I want to be yours
to be safely yours
I just want to know what it’s like
to be the one that wakes to your adoration
I want to be worshiped
and feel the power of your ocean
as you break open the rock of my heart
and let me bleed
and let me be
I want to love you
but I dare not love you
for ours would be a story for the ages
and such stories never end well
